Who We Are
Chicken Bridge Bakery is a family operation made up of Rob, Monica and our small son Simon, who occasionally helps and is forever tasting. After working in a handful of bakeries for several years we decided to build our own wood fired oven and start baking artisan, hearth baked bread out of our home using as many local flavors as possible.
In the winter of 2009 we began our Community Supported Bread (CSB) project to get our bread into the hands of local folks. Since the first month, membership in the month by month CSB has grown and we still have room for more. Our members pay a monthly fee and we deliver a different loaf of bread to them every week. We believe the CSB model is one which overcomes the barriers of alienation between farmer, baker, commodities and consumers. We have direct relationships with the local people that supply our ingredients, from the millers to the farmers to the brewers. We use slow fermentation processes to craft our breads and a long firing of the oven to bake the loaves. The bread we create passes directly from our hands into the hands of the consumer…which is the most gratifying part of the process.
The simple beauty of baking artisan bread has been completely fulfilling and we would love to share our creations with you! If you are interested in signing up to be a member of our CSB, please see our contact information linked to the main page.
